Nasi Ayam Penyet is my favourite food here in Kota Kinabalu. While the exact location is actually very far from town.
Rumah Makan Daun Pisang (the shop's name) is located at Alamesra, near 1 Borneo Hypermall and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
Right opposite Rumah Makan Daun Pisang (forgot to take picture of this particular shop) is Warung Padang Jawa which sells exactly the same thing. If not mistaken, they are from the same owner or using the same recipe, because we would go to either one of the shop which ever one is closed or too crowded. So, no worries of you going to the wrong shop.
This is their menu, you just order from here. The one really recommended is Nasi Ayam Penyet-larrr!
The setting of the place, it was quite crowded during lunch hour. But, since the dish can be easily prepared, they usually serve you quite fast. Sometimes, they tend to forget, if your food doesn't show up for quite some time, please do remember to remind them.
They even set table outside the shop, it looks quite scruffy, but the food is good. If you looking for a good relaxing environment, this is totally not the place, it can be quite hot in the afternoon.
Present you the Nasi Ayam Penyet! It comes with soup and rice with that same price, RM 7 nett.

4. the cabbage (kubis)
5. the cassava leaves (daun pucuk ubi)
6. the bean paste (tempe)
Depends on the availability of side dish, they usually have it all. Sometimes, sadly, some side dish will gone missing! But, the chilies and the fried chicken will definitely be there! Don't worry!
Spicy level of the chilies (Rating: 9/10). Please be noted that I can really eat spicy food. But, the chilies just enough to make me tear a little, but is definitely recommended for people who like spicy food.
Definitely will visit again! Something to be missed when I leave KK.
Ikan Keli Lalap, if you like fish, you definitely can try this. This picture was not taken on the same day as the others, you can see some missing side dishes. *funny*
